This was a solid entry. Extremely in the spirit of the first one, down to the non-linear story structure. This one felt more disjointed in that respect, though, because there isn't a single pivotal moment to balance the flashbacks on unlike in Vicious.
That aside, the plot of this book is just as, well, vicious as the last. Lots of gratuitous murder of EOs, and the continuing descent of Victor away from his humanity. Sydney is the only character you really root for, but they're all so interesting that it doesn't matter in the end.

Started off slower than I thought it would so it took a little bit to really sink into it. Luckily I was already familiar with the main characters, and the newer ones were intriguing.

I love where it took the story and the ending really ups the ante. I assumed we'd be set up a sequel and I was right.

As usual Ms Schwab has created a fascinating world full of fascinating characters and I can't wait to see what happens next.

It's so satifsying to read a book where the main characters of stories are not heroes or even anti-heroes -but rather villains who fully embrace it and are driven by revenge. It makes the characters alot more fun to read and relatable than your typical good vs. evil trope. Thank you V.E. Schwab for this masterpiece of a series! Alot of sequels don't live up to the first book, but this one was an addition, with compelling new characters that really drove the story forward. It was a masterstroke!
