I have and will always adore fantasy. I've also been a fan of Corvids my entire life. This series was automatically set-up for success for me, I'll admit. The first book went really slowly and I struggled to finish it. This book however was a wild ride.

I love that Thia is not only believable, but you can connect with her based on the mental illness journey she goes through. I felt what she was experiencing, empathized with her on some things we have both been through, and I gained courage from her on some of the things I am still working through. I think that is incredibly powerful for readers, especially teens. The use of depression and crippling anxiety in this series is what makes it one that I will recommend for years to come (Librarian here). For fantasy readers who need a little help or just don't want to feel alone as they're going through a hard time, I think this novel/series is the perfect companion.

Josephson almost lost me at the end, but she pulled out of the dive just in time. I adore this series and cannot wait to add it to my personal collection.

4/5

An ending to a a doualogy that I felt wasn’t as good as the first but it still had a satisfying ending and climax.

Such a great concept and world but my biggest issue was how rushed everything was in these two books. Despite this, I did enjoy this series and the characters were great!

I want a giant pet crow now though.

the pacing was a bit worse in this one, but the tension and stakes were there.
