This book was a much needed reprieve from reality. Linus starting off as a stickler and slowly making his way into the embodiment of change and abstract thought is a great reminder that it’s never too late to challenge yourself with new ideas and thought processes outside of your comfort zone. I wish the world could take that note considering the state of everything.
I think this book does a fantastic job humanizing (not quite the right word for non humans but…) what is different and therefore feared. It’s not so easy to say something is all good or all bad and at the end of the day it’s always more closely tied to which we act upon. Everything is a choice no matter what it feels like in that moment. Linus characterizes that perfectly throughout this story as he slowly releases his own self imposed restraints of societal expectations and begins to think his own thoughts free from expectation.
This book gives me a profound excitement to try more and hold onto hope in the face of a stubborn reality that refuses to accept unstoppable change. “Change often starts with the smallest of whispers. Like-minded people building it up to a roar".
