With a time jump and fast pace, the seventh novel in The Expanse is the most satisfying installment yet. It continues to deepen its exploration of the series' recurring themes—the intransigence of tribalism, the cyclicality of history, the tension between order and freedom, the precarity of a governing mandate enforced through force, and atavistic human instincts in the face of the unknown—while propelling the plot forward.

This was a tightly paced and action-packed entry in the series. As usual, light on deep character development, high on light and fun story.
There is a 30-year time jump from the last novel, but not to worry! Our heroes are still there, and have been in a holding pattern waiting for other events to happen in the background, so they are basically exactly the same people as before...

Two things set this book aside from the rest of the Expanse series. First and most pronounced is the 30 year jump. That felt weird. But the ending was also not very satisfactory to me. It feels very much like this book was just a setup for the story to follow.

Has to be in my Top 3 books so far in this series, from start to finish it had me hooked! It definitely at first felt like the ending of the series but quickly changed with so much going on. Loved both Bobbie and Amos, especially seeing Avasarala older but still being the baddest woman. Will be honest I shed some tears when the moment happened. Love how the series is going, going to start book 8 soon!

I just didn't connect with this like some of the other books in the series. I didn't care for the 30 year time jump, and didn't love the storyline itself. I'm hoping the next couple of books are better so that the series ends on a high note for me.
