4 stars! Ugly love evoked more emotion from me than It Ends with Us, likely due to the fact that it was more relatable to my past relationships.

After reading a few reviews, I can understand why people didn’t like this. Yes, Hoover displays Tate as a doormat and a sex object for Miles. However, I do feel like Miles and Tate’s situation is similar to modern dating. “Situationships” have become the new thing where people want the aspects of a relationship and the sex without the commitment part. Since this book was published a few years ago, I can see why the situation was frowned upon but now with it coming back through TikTok, it makes sense why more people are loving it.

Do I think some aspects of this book are controversial? Absolutely. But the overall relationship between Miles and Tate (Minus Miles’s traumatic past) just doesn’t seem as horrible as some make it out to me. Maybe it’s just coming from my experience with dating apps, situationships, and now being in a relationship with a man that didn’t want anything serious at first. Something to think about I guess.

Being someone who so adamantly stands by protecting your heart this was so hard for me to read on behalf of Tate. As someone who has experienced a lot of loss, I did like reading about Miles healing. Altogether, couldn't really get behind this relationship bc it was incredibly toxic??? But at the end I guess it kind of works out. Indecisive as to if I'm here for it or not.

I could not stop reading this book! It was addictive. Different from anything else I’ve read and my first CoHo book. It was steamy and mysterious and tragic. I had gasped at Miles’ but reveal.

I didn’t love the formatting of Miles’ perspective but I also understood as I went on. It’s also not the most realistic depiction of love but it was addicting to read nonetheless. Can’t wait for the next CoHo book!

should not have believed the hype…

I really enjoyed this book! The only reason it wasn't a 5/5 for me is there were a few too many intense romance scenes that just became repetitive. I enjoyed the past and present time lines, but I wish there was a bit more time spent on the plot twist and the development of the aftermath of what happened. Overall, enjoyed this read and I am happy to have checked another CoHo book off my list!

I have mixed feelings about this book. It was a bit of a slow burner but the further I got through, I really wanted to know what happened to Miles that made him the way he was. However, I just found this so cringey! Tate should have seen all the red flags and just walked away, she was so helpless it made me a bit annoyed. I usually enjoy Colleen Hoover’s books but I wasn’t that impressed by this one.

I really really love this book. This has been the first book since I got back to reading again and I can say that this really made me excited to start reading again. The first chapters were really a slow read for me since it's starting with getting to know the characters and why their situation is what it is in the present time. After knowing the reasons and the twist of it all, it really took my breath and gave me the feels that I was waiting to happen and even asking. This book taught me that there is more to just falling in love, being in love and why there's ugly love. I think I will recommend this to anyone who is not on the CoHo book trend yet because this should not be missed out.

just your average smutty wattpad romance but with good grammar and no spelling errors. the drama was a bit much for my taste but other than that it was a fun book to just mindlessly read.

I hate you Colleen Hoover.
