I started off really liking this book - a refreshing look behind the guidelines at what the evidence actually says. Guidelines are often years behind the actual research, so it was an interesting summary of which pregnancy restrictions you could actually be more chill about. But when she began on labour and birth, there were a lot of errors. She spent so much time picking apart poor research, but completely backed the most famously flawed breech trial? And stated that CEFM was routine for pregnant women in the UK, completely untrue. And also said one of the 'cons' to having a home birth was that, if you needed to transfer to hospital, you wouldn't have a packed bag ready. Or, you could pack a bag just in case like a sensible person?! I hope she updates with further editions, it just isn't up to scratch in its current iteration, and I won't be recommending it around.

A completely clinical overview of pregnancy, that rightfully questions traditional standpoints and outdated practices.

Love the focus on critical analysis of research. I think it’s a super important read for anyone experiencing pregnancy

Very informative but kind of nerve wracking to read while pregnant. Some of the thought processes came off as extremely high stress and I am glad not to think this way.
