Not my place to say that a memoir this viscerally personal and beautifully written is anything less than 5 stars.
Enjoyed overall though was a little repetitive and meandering at times. It wasn’t very structured at all, felt a little like a collection of articles/essays rather than a novel? But the subject matter was compelling and at times very beautifully written.
An ok read. I’ve read “An Untamed State” by this author, so I know how great a writer she is. This felt very repetitious with a stream of meandering thoughts throughout.
She’s a brave lady to talk about her hardships and her body, but I just did not enjoy the writing style.

This was beautiful, raw, and so personal. The whole time I felt as if I was intruding as listened on with stunned fascination as the author bared personal (and at times traumatic) details and frankly discussed her relationship with her body. A very compelling read, cannot wait to read more by this author!
As vulnerable and brave as any writing can possibly be.

I'm not sure the world deserves Roxane Gay.
This is a gorgeous, difficult, un-put-downable book.
You should stop what you're doing right now and read it.
