This was an incredibly fun new take on Holmes and Watson! Charlotte Holmes and James Watson are descendants of the famous Holmes and Watson (Conan Doyle was Watson’s literary agent in this retelling!😂), still in high school, and are of course, brilliant! The relationship between these two young, modern versions of the duo maintains the essence of the relationship between the originals ... I could say more on that but ... spoilers.🤣😂.

2.5, the book had some good parts but respectfully the chapters shouldn’t be so long.

I recommend this book if you like:
-YA college/uni
-Sherlock Holmes stories and similar vibes
-no romance

I have wanted to read this book for about 3 years. I definitely would have preferred if the book had a romantic element. The mystery was good but I couldn't warm to Charlotte and her emo, druggie demeanour. The story was a bit complex and left chunks of information out. When the mystery was revealed it wasn't as satisfying as I thought it would be.

The murderer was the school nurse who was a fiance to the guy Charlotte had got in to trouble. The fiance thinks he's dead but he isn't.

I don't get the love for this book. It was such a frustrating read. I didn't ever care about Charlotte or Jamie. The only reason I didn't completely abandon it was because I had a vague desire to know how it ended.

A fun read! Sherlockians will find particular joy in Cavallaro's Easter eggs scattered throughout.

This is such an amazing book and I have recommended it to everyone I know who loves mysteries as much as me. It starts out exciting and finishes leaving the reader completely satisfied! I have read many mysteries yet I have never read one much like this.

The character development throughout the story is incredible, and Charlotte is such an exciting character. Jamie on the other hand is really so much like his ancestor.

The two of them work so well together, no matter how it might not start out that way. The story is exciting and keeps you turning pages until the very end.

There are three sequels to this story, but the ending does not call for them to be read, and, in fact, I wouldn’t read them.

Overall this is an incredible book!
