As usual I love Dean Koontz books. This is all about how a man deals with the loss of his loved girlfriend and his own guilt about not being with her to help save her. It is about his wish that she could still be alive even though it is very likely she is not. It is about man and what we do to hurt our future generations.
Are you intrigued? Well read the book.

Wasn't what I was expecting at all. Disappointing, waste of time read for me.
So here's how this went...
Begin reading...story setup, almost a little boring
Character introduction, more story setup,
Investigating begins
Oh hey, what?
Tense thriller moments
OH HEY!
!!!WHAT!!!
explosive ending

This book had was very busy. So much so, I didn't know what the heck was going. From the characters to the story, it wasn't for me.
Emily disappeared 10 years ago, her body never found, and the love of her life, David, has sworn to find out what happened to her. David has “befriended” a known serial killer in hopes that he has the answers about Emily; whether David is ready to hear them or believe them. Then David meets Maddison, who is not only the spitting image of Emily from 10 years prior down to the unique birthmark, but also her voice, mannerisms, everything David has loved about Emily. It’s as if he’s been given a second chance, but David can’t shake the fear that Maddison is really Emily. How can that be possible? Should he leave well enough alone and just make a future with her or should he follow his fears and find out the truth? I liked it!!
A great idea for a story, but somehow it never really sucked me in. The suspense never seemed to show up, or the urgency for David to figure out the truth. It seemed like an awfully laid-back thriller.
"The Other Emily" is about an author who is mourning the loss of the love of his life, until one day he meets a stranger who looks and acts 100% like his long lost girlfriend did. He doesn't believe that she is the one and same person as she disappeared without a trace 10 years ago. The book then follows the author in search for the truth about who this stranger is. There are a few genres in this book. It is quite creative but I felt that it was too slow. From the first encounter you kind of guess what's going on, but the end had a little twist that I wasn't expecting.
Not for me, overall but might be for somebody else.

Another great one!
I had no idea in which direction this book was going and I love where it went! Also, I love how this book ended.

slow-paced
The book started off a little slow and it wasn't keeping my interest very well. It did get better in the middle when everything gets going and the mystery grows....and then there was the ending. It just wasn't as satisfying as I had hoped once I finally started getting into the story.
