I honestly don’t know how I feel about this book. It took me thirteen days to finish it, and I just kept wanting to put it off. The story wasn’t bad, and I was very intrigued by the mystery of it all. But it definitely isn’t one of my favorite books. I decided to give it four stars because I did enjoy the story overall.
Also a huge fan of Koontz’s writing style. I love how he weaves sentences together, and I feel like I’ve added some new words to my vocabulary.

Mystery/Romance/Sci-fi/Fantasy.... this book has it all. What I love about Koontz is his mastery over prose. The ability to put us in the minds of his characters. Know what they are thinking and feeling. In this book too he has picked up multiple threads and linked them all nicely in the end.

Was a fan of the beginning, strong plot that kept me hooked but once the sci-fi elements came in the author lost me and I had to drag myself to the end of the book reluctantly.

Worst book I’ve ever read. Terrible writing that goes from being overly flowery to misogynistic BS. So terrible but somehow the mystery was compelling enough to make me reach the end. It also felt like this book was written by 3 different people. No more Dean Koontz for me.
I enjoyed the book and will recommend it to others, but it's definitely not something I can see myself reading more than once.
that was…so weird. bits of horror, bits of sci-fi ??? weird but good idk
