It was... strange.

I have never read a Dean Koontz book, but the synopsis had me interested and I luckily got it for free on Kindle Unlimited. Maybe this is how most/all of his books are but for me it felt like he had 3 different ideas for a story and couldn't pick which one to tell or which genre to stick to in this book.

The story starts as a mystery/thriller? and then BAM, it is sorta paranormal, then BAM BAM its sci-fi like. Again, the way I can describe this is.. strange. Perhaps just not my style but it certainly doesn't encourage me to pick up another.

If he had wrote a whole story really based on the serial killer featured in this book I think that would have been phenomenal. Alas.. it fell flat for me. I just found the whole book.. weird.

If the Sci fi elements had been introduced earlier on it may have been better but it seems like the author dug himself into a hole and couldn't figure out any other way to fix it

A multi genre masterpiece

A story of loss and living your life without your most beloved. Of a serial killer and look alikes and a terrifying strangeness that can't be explained. It's unlike anything else and probably not for everyone. But it's Dean Koontz and I could not have skipped it for the world!

This was my first book by this author and I’m not quite sure how I feel. I’ve seen rave reviews of his work over the years but just never picked him up. The writing was very good. The story was interesting if a little on the sci-fi side of life. It just seemed to move kind of slow and I had a hard time connecting with the concept. I’ll likely check out some of his earlier work just to explore.

"there is a land of the living and a land of the dead, and the bridge is love... the only meaning"

First time reading a Dean Koontz book. I enjoyed his writing style. It was very descriptive. I really enjoyed this book but unfortunately it didn’t end the way I hoped. It’s not a bad ending, just took a turn I wasn’t expecting. It’s worth a read if you enjoy Dean Koontz. I’ll definitely be reading more of his books.

Didn’t love it. Too many creepy factors that were just causing me to not sleep well at night. It’s weird how some don’t bother me at all but others freak me out.
