This book is creepy! The premise drew me in, then the spooky factor from multiple directions kept me rapt.
One annoyance periodically threw me out of the story: suddenly an overwritten paragraph would appear, almost always when David was ruminating on that one time he was a jerk, that used lit crit language to mansplain how David's actions or thoughts were symbols of universal truths of life. Um, yeah, that's how novels work.
Then the characters... read this for the serious creep factor and don't expect too much depth from any of the characters.

I'm not sure how I feel about the ending but I like the book overall. It was a compelling read and I'm glad I read it!
I generally love Koontz, but this one didn't hit the same for me. I listened to the audiobook on Audible, which was well-narrated.

2.5 really - suspenseful thriller but was very repetitive in some parts that made it a somewhat slow read through the middle and then really rushed towards the end when it picked up some traction. Also had some weird detours that didn't really pay off or connect to the main story.
I loved the book, I just wish the ending was more comprehensive.
