I am so conflicted about this book. It didn't feel like a romance. It was dark and twisted and the romance we do find in the book got tainted for me at the end... so it left me feeling weird. I wasn't entertained while reading it. It felt uncomfortable finding out that all men in the book, including Justin, are horrible men. When it comes to Rainy, while I do appreciate an unreliable narrator in a story, it just seemed very conniving to go to the length she did to get what she wants. It wasn't badly written ... hence the 3 stars, but it was definitely not my book.
5 stars
This book was so deliciously dark and twisted. I really enjoyed reading it. The ending felt a tad too open to me, would have liked a bit more closure, but other than that it was perfect.

This was so good. I literally read it in one sitting I could not put it down. Definitely check trigger warnings because this one probably ticks a lot of boxes for peoples triggers but for me, I thought it was great. I loved the storyline. I loved the ending and the twist and I really felt for these characters and really enjoyed seeing how they grew and honestly it was just a wild ride and I definitely recommend this book.
4.5. i knew almost nothing going in and was just along for the ride. I ATE THIS SHIT UP!
Epically twisted
An amazingly dark, twisted upheaval of a story. I definitely was unprepared for, well, all of it. Rainey. The Connors. Even Justin. I simply was not prepared.
I had to read this in pieces. Rainey’s story definitely shouldn’t be taken lightly, and I wanted to make sure that I got the full impact. I did.
I like dark reads, the darker the better. This exceeded anything that I thought I was going into.
I will definitely be following this authors work.
Words have power, and these were weighty.

This is a dual POV book. Rainey is the lone survivor of a brutal crime, and Justin is the psychologist tasked to find out what happened that fateful night. The story unfolds with snippets from the past and present, as Rainey tells Justin her journey since moving into the neighborhood.
With each flashback, I was left in shock that Rainey would surround herself with the people she did, and that she would allow herself to be treated in such a horrible way. The overwhelming need to slap some sense into her was a constant feeling through out the book. Just when you think things couldn't get any worse, they do.

This book is achingly frustrating, because no person should have to go through the things Rainey did. I am emotionally drained. This is definitely a dark read, and not for the faint of heart.
Then the ending was just... WOW.

Wow.

That's the only word I could think of when I finished this book.
My mind is still reeling from the journey this author took me on in the lives of Rainey and Justin! I don't know exactly what I was expecting from this story, but it wasn't this! I would've never guessed the direction the author would take things, or how fucked up it would have me feeling in the end.

It's not often that a book takes me by surprise in this way. I read so much that it's hard to find something new and unexpected. I've been looking for an author to pull the rug out from under me for a while now, and that's exactly what Lily White did here. Discovering this book was like hitting the fucking jackpot!

The Five is so different from any other story I've read before. It's actually difficult to describe it without giving anything away. This is one of those books that I truly feel like you should go into blind.

Don't read any reviews. Even the slightest thing could give away something important that will ruin the book. Just know that this story is dark, gritty, fucked up, graphic, and twisted. There is a mysterious, melancholy feeling throughout the book, and it's definitely not your average romance!

If you're a fan of dark stories, READ. THIS. BOOK. I promise you'll be left with your mouth hanging open, and your brain in fragments on the floor. Your feelings will be so fucked up you won't know what to do with yourself, and if you're like me, you'll love every minute of it!

Dark romance and romantic suspense fans, this one's for your crazy asses!

Wow! The Five is definitely not for the faint of heart. This book is filled with suspense and twists I thought I saw coming but just kept on twisting.
The story unfolds as Rainey talks of her past with psychologist, Justin. He is trying to uncover what happened the night of a grisly crime. Rainey is correct in that she had to start at the beginning in order to understand the end. This story was a total trip but I loved it!

I have no words… I loved every part of this book! If you don’t have triggers, go in blind!
I’m still trying to process the rollercoaster this book took me on. I highly recommend reading this book! Lily White takes you on an enthralling, dark journey.
