By itself, it's a 3-star volume. More like a build-up volume to something bigger coming up. As a whole, however, Gideon Falls is a solid 4-star series. I'm looking forward to Vol 4.

Since I started working full-time again, it's been extremely slow-moving with my big ole' stack of comic book trades from the library, so it was a surprise that I easily read both Vols. 2 and 3 of this series in one day, even despite working 9 hours.
It's far from being one of my favorite series, but Gideon Falls has pulled me in to its mythos.

Maybe I'm having a bad weekend, as I abandoned another book and now really didn't enjoy this one, but there's just too much stuff going on without a strong narrative arc. No character development this issue, and I don't think the art was used to its best advantage. I'm done with the series. I hope I like Ascender better.
