Normally, I don't gravitate towards books like these, but when I came across it I added it to my to-read because it was written by two women who are married to each other. I was curious what a straight romance would be like written from queer perspective. I put a hold on it last week because I wanted an adult contemporary that I could get sucked in by, but that was... not this book. Not for me, at least.

I tend to enjoy books deemed "slow" that explore its characters and the issues that affect them. But I was not strongly compelled by this story. Perhaps because I did not have affection for anyone in this book, nor could I relate to anyone. I don't always need the former (and certainly not the latter), but I think that's what was missing. I wish I had cared more about Win and/or Leo, but ultimately I didn't understand them. The epilogue did make me wish that the adaptation of Middlemarch actually existed, though...

4.5 stars

This book was a pure delight. So fun, but much deeper than expected. You think it is just about a Hollywood romance, but actually covers racism, sexism, ageism, classism, and the paparazzi. This is one I’ll be recommending for a long time.

The writing was clever and I loved the main Win & Leo's banter and chemistry. A fun read for sure.

they were simply not a good couple

A fantastic summer read! I started this on audio and knew immediately that I wanted to read a paper copy of this story. This book was a treasure that read with all the juiciness of a tabloid and the nuance of a scholars writing.

I thought this was good, but some of it I found frustrating. The writing was great, it reminded me of Taylor Jenkins Reid. Very daisy jones/evelyn Hugo coded. I just felt like most of the time the characters were standing in their own way. But would read more by them for sure
