Five stars because I love Terry Pratchett, I love Tiffany Aching and this is the last one. I put off reading it for a long time because I didn't want there not to be a Discworld book that I hadn't read. And now I've read them all.

It's not my favorite Pratchett book - that would be a tossup between Hat Full of Sky, I Shall Wear Midnight, and Thief of Time but it doesn't matter.

It’s so difficult for me to rate and review The Shepherd’s Crown. Being objective when discussing the final Discworld instalment is nearly impossible. I can’t begin to discuss the plot and main events of the book without giving things away, so I won’t. I will simply reiterate what Rob Wilkins mentioned in the Afterword; this is a novel with a beginning, middle and an end. It is not, however, a finished novel. There are parts of this story that are perfectly polished Pratchett, and there are other areas that are the bare bones of his ideas yet to be teased out to their full potential.

If you enjoyed the Discworld and are a fan of the Witches, I would recommend picking this up. It is a fitting end to the series and is much stronger and more enjoyable than the previous helpings from the Discworld.

This was a bittersweet read. I'm not sure that non-Pratchett fans would understand how wonderful this book is. It's at once a gift and a farewell. It's hard reading this book not to wish that there was more and to appreciate that we got as much of it as we did. There were places where I felt like Terry would have written more if he'd had time, but it's astounding what he was able to accomplish.

I love Tiffany Aching more than any other character I think. She is the epitome of a hero, and the Nac Mac Feegles are my all-time favourite sprites.

When I first read The Wee Free Men, more than a dozen years ago, I knew how special it was. I didn’t love the next 3 Tiffany Aching books quite as much, but this one is brilliant and funny and the oh so special as Terry’s last book. We are so lucky to have had him long enough for this book to exist.
