I can’t believe the Windsor series is over! I started the series with Dion and Faye and was hooked. Ares and Raven and Lex and Raya were def my faves of this series.
Now, I’m not sure if my reading taste has changed or if Cat kinda fell off with this last book, but I was not super impressed with Sierra and Xavier’s story. I had pretty high expectations for an enemies to lovers story, and considering that their relationship has been developing over the course of the rest of the sibling’s stories, I really was hoping for more. The beginning of their story was filled with a lot of doubt on Xavier’s part and confusion over feelings on Sierra’s part. I felt like chapter after chapter was just Sierra saying “what are these feelings” and everyone around her knowing she was in love with Xavier and just NOT TELLING HER!! It was honestly so frustrating for me to read a character that was so out of touch with her emotions. Xavier was not standing out to me much with his grand gestures and extreme devotion. Stela king projects and naming them so they form an acronym of her name was just not that exciting to me, and though I can appreciate his acts of love by creating or buying or doing things for her were plenty and adorable, I just did not find myself feeling endearing things for him. The Mrs. Kingston protocol was cute and all but still I found it lacking. Pair that with the fact that he knew she was a virgin and that their first time wasn’t exactly picturesque or super romantic and I just wasn’t sold. The smut in this book also just did not meet my expectations, there seemed to be fewer chapters and often wasn’t as descriptive as I remember previous books being.
His behavior after the kidnapping was extremely confusing for me and never truly resolved in my mind. His reasoning for cutting off Sierra was never made very clear to me, and it was brushed off in the end with Sierra saying “he started going to therapy and we are happy now”. I found myself frustrated by the back and forth in their relationship from that point. He cuts her off and she continues to pursue him, then she gives up and hands him divorce papers and he decided that he actually does want to fight for their marriage. It was all so wishy washy and not at all what I have come to expect from Cat’s novels. I honestly felt like Grandma Anne’s death was rushed as well. Like it served as the plot turning point for Sierra to decide she deserves better. In the end, it was still a relatively easy read for me, but I just wasn’t as enraptured with this plot line as I have been with other books by this author.

Cat, you really outdid yourself with this one! Xavier and Sierra had me from the start and loved every minute of their story. I love an MMC with a hidden dark past that will do absolutely anything for the woman he loves. Xavier has loved Sierra from afar for many years, but was hiding that love behind their professional and personal feud. Sierra was convinced she hated Xavier, but once she let her walls drop, she quickly realized that wasn't exactly true. Their marriage may have been arranged due to Windsor tradition, but these two were absolutely meant for each other from day one. I loved getting to see their hidden vulnerable sides and watching their thick stone walls come down for each other. Xavier and Sierra were more than worth the wait. #Xierra
The Devious Husband has quickly become my favorite of The Windsors Series. This is an fantastic ending to and amazing series. Seriously a 10/10 and highly recommend.
Tropes:
- Billionaires
- Arranged marriage
- Unrequited loved... or is it?
- He's got is BAD for her
- It's always been you
- Enemies to lovers
Huge thank you to Cat for allowing me to read and review and ARC!

The author loves 3rd act breakups 😩 but the groveling works every time. Xavier is the morally grey man I need.

I haven’t read the others in the series so I wasn’t aware of the side characters.
But I liked the story,
Xavier has loved Sierra his whole life, competed with her in business only to have done it all for her.
Arranged marriage. He falls first but she has always had secretly had something for him.
There is a plot twist in it, that was supposed to add a little excitement it was ok lol
third act break up was heartbreaking.
But the ending was so endearing.

The amount of lack of communication really almost DNF this book and that made me so sad because I was so excited for Xavier’s and Sierra’s book. It also didn’t have that perfect ending to the series, I was left still wanting more and just incomplete.
