OMG!!! I cried with this book idk maybe because I'm saying goodbye to the Windsor's series (I finished the whole series in 14 days)
Sierra and Xavier what a freaking couple. The whole enemies to lover's trope are my kind of book. This love story was really emotional for me. I was able to see how much Xavier loved Sierra for many years and he really made all his house had everything Sierra needed.

-enemies to lovers
-spicy 4/5
-he falls first

The story was far too disjointed. Chapters were cut off right as they were about to get good and a continuation would’ve helped with bringing depth and character development to the story and people. For instance the birthday dinner for Xavier’s mother was cut off after introductions. Why couldn’t we see that play out so we could’ve seen the relationship between Sierra and her in laws growing? Then all of a sudden she starts calling her mother in law and father in law, mom and dad and it feels so awkward and cringey because we’ve only ever seen them interact like twice and they barely spoke to each other during those interactions.

The book was filled with paragraphs of telling instead of showing like when we missed out on sierra finding out about Xavier joining poker night. This could’ve provided great development of their relationship as she learned about his connection with her brothers all so that he could learn about her. Instead everything kept happening too fast. They kept using sex to show the relationship forming instead of using meaningful moments. I get that part of the hardship was him opening up but there could’ve been others ways to show their relationship going from enemies to lovers. I didn’t buy that they loved each other. And their issues were super repetitive and boring.

I was so disappointed in this story.

Catharina Maura is such a talented author. I read all the books from The Off-Limits series earlier this year. It was recommended by one of my bookish friends and I fell in love with it after reading the first book. After reading The Off-Limits series, I then read The Windsors. I knew this series was going to be just as good as the previous series especially when the books are all interconnected. I can tell you that this series is 100% worth your time reading, including The Off-Limits.

As for this particular book, I love the quarrels between Xavier and Sierra - especially when Sierra was showing her domineering side towards Valeria that she, not Valeria, is Xavier’s wife. For the first good half of the book, I was smiling a lot because of the way Xavier teases Sierra and Sierra showed her jealous side. Oh, and the way Xavier calls Sierra “Kitten” just makes me swoon. It’s also funny that Catharina Maura characterizes Sierra as a feisty cat because Sierra shows her “claws” by biting Xavier and even slashed all of his cars’ tires. As for the last half of the book, I was crying a bit because the little moments Sierra and her grandma had reminded me a lot of my time with my grandma when she was still alive.

Overall, I had so much fun reading this book. I cannot believe the series is over!

I have not read any other books in this series. I jumped right in at book 6. But I am now intrigued, so I will be reading from the beginning.

The enemies to lovers premise pulled me in. I expected an edgier side to their enemies relationship. I wanted Sierra to be more adversarially creative. Lol…”Mrs Kingston Protocol”

Third act breakups…sigh, it sounds like the other books in this series may have those.

3 stars

I wanted it so bad for it to be 3 stars but It's just- I was tired of Xavier not trusting Sierra and the love she has for him.

Edit: it reached the third stars when I realized Catharina handled really well that age gap, it always makes you feel like they're equals.
