If you wake up in the morning, it is a good day.

I honestly don't know what to write. As someone who knows history - although modern is not exactly my favorite - and has been to Auschwitz it is quite difficult. I mean it's a bit historically inaccurate and based on a true story, so it just makes it harder, but I'll try my best.

Lale was a very likable and lovable character who - both in the book and in real life - saved a lot of people from death because he was a tattooist in hell itself. Gita has also grown close to my heart, she really suffered a lot and she deserved peace terribly.

The plot itself was easy to handle, albeit shocking and stomach-churning in several places - still reality. The pace was a bit slow, but that was what it took to understand more of it. In sum, it conveyed well the situation and what they had to survive.

I finished this book in a single day and it has rendered me speechless. It clearly lays out many of the horrors and atrocities of the holocaust and really makes you think about what people had to go through during this time. I was gripped from start to finish and can't wait to read more of Heather Morris' works

Everybody should read this book. If you know a little or a lot about the holocaust, it touches on it in a way that is new and personal. It is even more devastating through getting to know the real people as characters in the book. Beautifully written - I couldn’t put it down
