Hmm 2.5 for me, I was hoping for more of a gripping thriller but it didn't get to that point and the ending was a bit absurd and falling flat...
The mum of Abigail is a bit annoying constantly repeating how she wants her child who has been through so much trauma to be 'her best self' or version... And the way both Abigail and Jess kept remarking on Abigail's weight I didn't like.
The ending did not come to a climax, the way Abigail says it's worse if they didn't mean to do the mistake and that it's their job to take care of her... Only to lead to everything being happy in France :/ there isn't much show of progress between their relationship.
Overall it was a bit slow to read and get to an answer.

Couple of things, I thought it would've been more engaging having Abigail narrate chapters instead of Jess, she's a bit obsessed with Abigail which was not necessary for the plot. At least with Abigail's pov we could've had linking flashbacks or something. The mum of Abigail is a bit annoying constantly repeating how she wants her child who has been through so much trauma to be 'her best self' or version... Could not put it down. From the very first sentence this book had me hooked. I was little underwhelmed with the secret but all in all a really great read
Great buildup, terrible ending
The while story had a great sense oh buildup but unfortunately the ending felt like a total flop to me.

An utterly compelling read - I raced through this! A fascinating story with twists and turns, which definitely keeps you guessing throughout.
What really happened the day Abigail White went missing? You won’t be able to put this one down until you’ve finished. Thank you Harper Collins Canada for the advanced copy!
3.5 stars.....a good read, disappointing ending I think. Kept me gripped throughout but just a bit of a let down towards the end.
This book ultimately fell flat for me with how long certain chapters dragged on describing mundane (and in my opinion non-essential) details and glossed over important plot points and dialogue that I believe could’ve enhanced the story. The two major plot twists weren’t anywhere near the 300+ page build up and the ending was similar. Overall I think the concept is very interesting but the character relatability and actual plot twists left me wanting more. I wouldn’t qualify this as a thriller mostly because I don’t think you can’t count “repetition/dragging on” as suspense. I would have loved to dig deeper into the mind of Abigail personally and the court case especially.
It was so good!!! I love the foreshadowing and the wide range of emotions the characters had. I felt for all of them and understood all their motives. Great book!
