I disliked this book so much that I wouldn’t have finished it if I wasn’t so stubborn. Not a single likeable character, very strange plot lines (main character carving words into her skin and frequently making references to the them), a disturbing age gap sexual relationship, repeatedly describing characters only as “fat.” This also read as very juvenile, with frequent references to what the main character did in high school, using tropes about popularity. I wanted to crawl out of my skin half the time I was listening to it because of parts that were really gory, violent, and/or disgusting.
I am disappointed about this one because I loved Gone Girl and I couldn’t put it down. This one took me a month to get through and I didn’t enjoy it at all. I also listened to it in audiobook version and the reader did accents that made the book feel satirical. Yeah not really any redeeming qualities about this one. ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹

3.5 stars. Mindlessly graphic in some parts, book drags in the middle

I was stunned when I found out this book was written by a woman
I dont know if the autor wanted to tell the world bout her sexual desires towards children that badly or she just needed that one guy who likes little girls a little too much to notice her but either way it was far beyond even slightly acceptable
It was never about the mystery nor the topic of confronting the demons of the past. It was always purely so the person writing this pease of crap could get their fucked up fantasies out into the real world

Ohhhh my god THIS is my niche right here. Sharp Objects is the exact sort of macabre story about the evils of humanity that I absolutely fucking love. Beautifully written, haunting characters, and a conclusion that left a pit of dread in my stomach. This one is going to stay with me for a long time methinks. 10/10 no notes.
