This was a brutal read, but utterly gripping. Gailey uses the metaphor of cloning to explore abusive relationships and personal responsibility. The undercurrent of quietly simmering rage to this novel is both exhilarating and deeply unsettling.

this was a beautiful book, i really enjoyed how unique it was. there was a lot to be said on family, generational trauma, grooming, and most of all identity. i was recommended to go in as blind as possible, so i really didnt know what to expect from this, and i thoroughly enjoyed it!
the twist that nathan had created and killed multiple clones before martine definitely makes sense but still shocked me to first discover.. martine leaving violet behind was so sad, i love how everyone got a pretty decently happy ending
