A few years following book 2, the Marlow Murder Club is once again called to investigate a suspicious death, this time a member of the town council, and Susie was present when the death occurred.

I adore this series. The group dynamic between Judith, Bex, and Susie is wonderful. They're good friends but also try to hold each other accountable, to an extent, for their flaws and encourage growth with each other.

There was some surprising character growth in this as Bex continues to practice standing up for herself, Susie is getting her life (and her home) in order while learning that not everything has to be a hustle, and Judith is learning to let things go and clear out some space (literally) in her life for socializing.

Looking forward to book 4 this winter.

A review on the front of the book says “cosy crime at its best” and I think that perfectly encapsulates this book. I love the dynamic of the three main women, and the plot/mystery was well constructed and kept me guessing the whole time (not predictable at all!). Often quite unrealistic - the police just did NOTHING the entire time!
