Captain Amazing is getting older and needs to recruit a sidekick. His pets all want the job: Roscoe the dog, Fluffy the hamster, Shifty the chameleon and old sidekick Manny the cat. Together the animals start fighting crime to prove to Captain Amazing that they are the perfect sidekicks.
This is a perfect superhero story for kids. The animal sidekicks are cute and fun and had a lot of humor to the story. I love the other superheroes and how they reference famous heroes from other stories. I thought the villain was good and the fights had just enough action for kids. Wonderful illustrations and a great story.

Captain Amazing's pets are too often neglected and generally find themselves competing for what little attention he has to offer. When the aging hero announces he needs a month off to recover from an allergic reaction to peanuts and that he'll have auditions for a new sidekick upon his return, they all see a prime opportunity to vie for the top position. Each begins training in his own way in the hopes of being ready in 30 days. Will the process end up bonding them more closely or completely splintering their little family?

Sidekicks is the perfect graphic novel for young readers. Full of action and plenty of humor this one is sure to be a hit at your library or in the classroom. Hand to one to fans of DC comic books and other super heroes.
This was really cute! It's about a superhero who is so busy fighting crime that he doesn't have time for his pets. They all go in disguise and apply to be his sidekick so they can spend more time with him. Love it!!! I hope there's going to be a sequel.
A cute, fun read for anyone who likes superheroes and wants to know what superhero pets would be like (you know you want to). I still can't decide which was my favourite. Probably all of them. :) Thanks, Summer, for recommending this to me forever ago. Sorry it took my so long to finally read it. You were right: it's adorable.
The plot is a bit all over the place, but the characters are complex and impossible not to love, and the illustrations are funny and rich and superhero-y.
