I wanted to like this so much. But somehow I got myself into another political piece. Just. Honestly...meh.

Lots of twists and turns. You’re rooting for her the whole time. But also scared. Starts on crazy fast and keeps you tense till the end.

the prose wasn’t amazing or anything but everything else was so so good. i read this in anticipation of watching the show (i always prefer to read the source material first) and i now almost want to wait so as to keep the reading experience intact. propulsive, thrilling, a dash of cults, and a really good central mother/daughter relationship. loved it, loved it

Good twists in this one… I wasn’t sure how it was going to end up! Excited to read the sequel next.

Great storyline! Was really hooked throughout and couldn’t put it down. Loved the jumps between past and present and different points of view as the truth slowly unravelled. Some really emotionally challenging moments during the book when it touched on sensitive topics and past trauma. Really well written.

The first 100 pages read incredibly fast and interesting and then everything became irrational and frustrating. I enjoyed the flashback passages, but everything that happened in the present just felt ridiculous. I honestly think this book would have been so much better if just the past had been focused on in more detail. Andy was just a blank character and her quest to figure out who her mother is was frankly boring.

More of a 3.75. I really felt the length of this book, but it was a pretty interesting read overall. It had its moments where I felt that things could’ve been cut down. I did enjoy Andrea’s tone of voice, I chuckled quite a few times. This felt gritty and violent, which I also enjoyed.
