Though some lovely descriptions of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, this one was too predictable for me even on the scale of a summer/vacation read.
This book is your quintessential beach read - it's got happiness & sadness, love & betrayal, high school drama & adult drama, and everything in between. Harper, Tabitha, Ainsley, and Eleanor make up quite the cast of characters - four stubborn, headstrong women, each trying to make their way through summer in Nantucket & Martha's Vineyard, while trying to navigate the complicated relationship that is family. Overall, a good book to read while relaxing on the beach (or on the plane back, when your brain is too tired to read anything too serious).
Good company during a long painting project, but ultimately forgettable.
Tabitha and Harper are identical twins who have been split apart when their parents divorce. One is raised on Nantucket and the other on Martha's Vineyard. At they onset of the book, they are estranged. They are brought together when their father, who Harper lives with, dies. The story is told from each person's perspective and from Tabitha's daughter, Ainsley's perspective.
I rarely DNF a book. But I made it about 150 pages into this one and I just couldn’t do it.
The two main characters are really unlikeable and have no redeeming qualities. There’s also nothing happening. It’s just two sisters disliking each other and one having a bunch of relationships. How this goes on for nearly 300 more pages is really beyond me. Maybe it gets better but I was not about to stick around and find out.

3.5 stars. An easy summer read. If I were more familiar with Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, I’d probably love all the cameos from real places!
