I liked the vibes of the city and also the mistery. A classic for a reason, but also old writing style obviously.

I always get nervous when I start reading a classic, but I'm happy to say this was really good! It's much shorter and simpler than I thought, but it's still pretty creepy and definitely thrilling. Of course, I don't think it's possible to approach this book without an awareness of what the twist is, but the foreshadowing is done well enough that it's still quite fun. And, I didn't know how it ended or any of the details of the mystery's conclusion, so those were all quite interesting as well.

There's a clear reason this book has stayed in the public imagination for so long. The central premise is compelling and interesting, and blends moral/philosophical questions with a suspenseful, horrific narrative. Themes like addiction, loyalty, and ethics do better than you'd think for such a short book.

Overall, a really fun read and a super short one. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to read a classic or an older book but is intimidated. I'd also recommend it to those looking for a break, a palate cleanser, or a short venture outside of their normal reading diet. I think pretty much everyone I know would enjoy it, so I would name anyone in particular, but I think thriller fans would have a better time of it than others.
