This book takes up a few hours after Of Poseidon left off. Galen goes to fetch Grom, and Emma's mom knocks both Emma and Rayna out with chloroform and kidnaps Emma away. Turns out she's convinced she killed Grom in the mine explosion and this whole thing has been one elaborate set up to arrest her. I think her mother was nuts she asks her daughter's new boyfriend why he doesn't want to have sex with her daughter. This is way out of line for a mother to ask that especially when this is a new boyfriend. All the chances he had, all the times they were alone, and all the other ways he could have arrested her if he wanted too, and she thinks he would think that was the right time. And telling her daughter that he never really loved her, that he only ever wanted to get to her mom, that's just cruel. And the worst part was Emma starts to question it, and believe it might be true. The story was fast to read and the continuation of the trilogy.

4.6 Stars!!

This second book in The Syrena Legacy series is much much much better than the first book. The plot was great and kept me interested and most of the writing was better than the first book.
The story pretty much all comes together in this book and is very entertaining!

On par with the first book. Onto number 3.

Although it took me a minute to get back into the story once I did I thoroughly enjoyed it. I admit there were a few hiccups I had with it, but that's with almost any story.
In Of Triton we are re-introduced to the same crazy cast of characters as in Of Poseidon. I'm starting here, because that's still my favorite part of this series. I LOVE the characters. Galen made me a little upset because although he was around, he wasn't as swoony this time around. Emma is still quirky and laugh out loud funny. Everyone else makes a bigger appearance in this novel and we get to know them a little more.
What I didn't like about the story was the way the dramatic part was written. It seemed like even the most drama filled parts were looked at jokingly and nothing was ever too serious. I mean really, if I was the one person that might be changing something, nervous or not, I would not treat it so calmly. Maybe its just me, but I know I would have panicked lol
I also didn't like that this book had the dreaded second book syndrome. There was hardly any epic situation or big event that had me on pins and needles until the cliff hanger ending. I just felt like it was kind of a filler. Now don't get me wrong, I still liked it because the host of characters and the writing stlye. I just feel like it doesn't live up to its predecessor Hopefully the final installment, Of Neptune, will be the most epic of the series and will blow this one out of the water. (Pun intended lol)

ANNA BANKS, I AM SO SAD AT YOU. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID.

LOVE this series.

Official review closer to publication date.

This sequel has much worse reviews than the first installment, but I actually think I liked it a bit more. I definitely rolled my eyes a few less times, and I thought the politics between the houses of Triton and Poseidon were interesting- though they could have definitely been explored more. The conflict did all seem to be resolved quite quickly, and all the paired-off romances were kind of annoying, but I didn't mind this book. I still don't think I'd reread it, and it's not going to make any of my favourite lists, but it's entertaining and an easy read.

Last year, I read Of Poseidon, the first book in this series. While I enjoyed the many laughs that the spunky main character, Emma, provided, there was one thing that did bother me. That one thing was the dynamic between Galen’s sister, Rayna, and his best friend, Toraf. The arranged marriage aspect just wasn’t my cup of tea, especially considering the way it was enacted. Thankfully, things seemed to have improved. We’ll just say that it’s a good thing Rayna actually wanted to be with Toraf all along. I still don’t like how it came about, but I’m trying to look on the bright side.

That being said, I really enjoyed Emma and Galen in Of Triton. Their relationship has greatly improved from Of Poseidon. Galen isn’t as overbearing, Emma is more independent, and Emma really comes into her own. Not only that, but we get to find out what the gifts of Triton will finally be revealed and the gifts of Poseidon are displayed in all their glory. It all makes for a thrilling culmination that I really enjoyed the most out of any other part of the book.

There is a wide array of events and emotions throughout Of Triton. From heartbreak to betrayal, you can find it all. There is even an emotional reunion laced throughout the story. The villain is truly insidious in his ambition and greed and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. In the background you will find the underwater world of the Syrena, a serene yet dangerous world filled with all the things you would imagine (fish, whales, dolphins, and more) and the things you wouldn’t (namely the Syrena and their underwater territories). It was definitely an asset to the story.

Though I’ve become a little burned out when it comes to mermaid books, Of Triton provided a nice reading experience. With a good dose of humor, Emma makes the narrative sparkle. The confrontations are riveting and the emotions are well presented. Overall, I found Of Triton to be a very enjoyable story, one which I wouldn’t mind continuing with.

I loved this book. I love this entire series! 5/5
