Yes, this gets a rare 5 stars from me. Why? Because I absolutely adore the character of Richard Poole, played by the brilliant Ben Miller, and as always, Robert Thorogood captures the essence of that character to perfection in his book. I confess, it probably wouldn't matter much what the story was like, the characterisation of Poole, his interaction with his team, especially Camille, and his final gathering of the suspects for the big reveal are what made Death In Paradise for me, and while Kris Marshall made a decent enough successor, the show will never be as good as when Poole was there. So I will be delighted as long as Thorogood keeps writing books like this😁😁

Another easy mystery story set on the Caribbean island of Saint Marie. The team cope well with Richard as he somehow solves the murder by piecing together all the tiny clues.
I have really enjoyed watching the TV series and thought I would try the books, which can be read easily even if you’ve not seen any if the programmes.
