This book was a breath of fresh air. All of the characters felt so human which is hard to find. Just a feel good/sad/hopeful vibe.

If everything were stripped away— the life you spent so much time building, the pressures of life and the masks you've been wearing—

If you no longer had to worry about destroying the things you've labeled as fragile and delicate—

Who are you actually, and what do you actually want?

Is this realization the first step to being truly happy?

A very real human book imo. The plot was very different from anything else I’ve read which I liked and the writing style was nice and engaging and interesting to me.

Phoebe Stone's ex-husband left her for her best friend. Her cat is dead. Her job is a dead end. She has nothing to live for. So she's going to go to the fabulous Cornwall Inn, have one last amazing night, and then... well.
It's too bad for her that the Inn is in a little bit of shambles and she wasn't even supposed to be able to book a room because a wedding party has booked out the whole place. Bride Lila is determined to make everything perfect. And that includes not having anyone disrupt her party in ANY WAY. So, Phoebe is going to have to suck it up and join in the fun. Well, at least join the wedding party. And having a stranger join the crew makes some of the cracks in the perfection appear even more brightly.
There were some parts that felt a little overly forced but it was overall a good story that kept me reading.

I am so sceptical when picking up a new contemporary book that has become famous because of booktok, but my god! I am so glad someone at work recommended this book for our book club because I didn't want this book to ever end.
Firstly, the premise itself is so interesting. I have never read anything like this. It is like a Japanese book with all the American humour.
Second, the characters are so well written. The story has been told so beautifully - it is like you are starting to feel alive with Phoebe, as she meets all the wedding guests one by one and befriends them. With each character Phoebe meets, she learns something new about being alive, about herself.

I feel like after reading this book, I suddenly feel alive. Like, I am here.

It's definitely one of the best books of the year!
