Sweet book following 3 generations of women connected by a single garden. Loved learning more about the gardens of England and about each generation. It’s a cozy read with a few love stories.
It's 1907, and Venetia Smith begins designing an impressive landscape for the Highbury House. In 1944, Diana Symonds, Beth Pedley, and Stella Adderton are brought together at Highbury House. They all try to maintain the garden as the home is requisitioned as a convalescent home for soldiers. And in 2021, Emma Lovett is hired to restore the neglected gardens to their former glory. Although separated by many years, each woman travels a similar path of love and loss and passion.
I instantly fell in love with all of the characters! It was a little hectic at first switching between the five different points of view, but this was less of an issue as the book progressed.

Objectively probably more like a 4 (some of the plot lines were tied up too nicely with ribbon, or easy to predict early on), but it was all my catnip: gardening, multiple generations & time periods, gentle mystery. I devoured it!
The three storylines are well-woven together. I was worried there were too many leads to keep track of, and I was a right from the stance that I sometimes struggled to remember the ancillary characters. The tale did weave the women’s lives together nicely with the garden as the focal point. Quite a sad book near the end. The happy parts didn’t really seem to help raise the mood back to neutral by the finish.
