Finished this one while I was snowed in. I just love how silly these books are. The plot lines are great!

I listened to this on audio, and I think that's definitely the best way to experience this series for me. It's light-hearted and action-packed, so it's really easy for me to listen to, and I don't get as much of the listening fatigue as other books occasionally give me. I also don't much care if I miss something because the plot is generally pretty straightforward. The narrator also does a nice job with voices and accents, which makes it even more fun to listen to.

I do hope to see some improvements in a few things as the series progresses, though. For one, Stephanie's unwillingness to learn to defend herself, even though she keeps getting beat up, is getting pretty annoying. It's played for comedy, but if you think about it too closely, it really isn't funny, and it's getting old. It's not that I want her to become a martial arts expert or anything, but I don't actually need her getting beat up by old ladies to make me laugh.

For another, I've lost interest in the love triangle. Morelli is the clear winner for me, so the whole Ranger bit in this book left me a bit cold. It probably doesn't help that the attraction with Ranger is purely physical, which is not a scenario that intrigues me in the slightest. I would far rather see Joe and Stephanie together, working out their relationship issues, than the purely physical bit with Ranger. It just doesn't interest me.

Still, I did enjoy the book. Like the others, it's pure fluffy brain candy, and definitely a nice change of pace from my usual fantasy & science fiction addiction.

Dougie’s missing…Mooner too, eventually.
Joe proposed to Stephanie.

Bob’s now living with Joe … mostly.

We learn that Stephanie’s mum would rather Grandma Mazur get kidnapped than shack up with a man, in typical Plum fashion.

A fun listen.
4 stars.

Audio:
This narrator is AWFUL.

Personal / semi-spoiler:
Morelli gave Stephanie an ultimatum so, she had to break up with him.

Love this series

I haven't read all her books in order but I am realizing since I just read 17 before this one, that her earlier books are so much better. This one was clever, witty, laugh out loud and I wanted to keep reading. The last one was like she was trying to hard to keep the same formula. I don't think having the characters life progress rather than stay the same with a different "mystery" would ruin the series.

I like Stephanie Plum a great deal! Evanovich has a hit with this series. However, I would like to see Stephanie develop a little bit as a bounty hunter. She's been doing it for a while and is still making the same mistakes that she made when she first started. I don't expect her to become Ranger, but she's behind the learning curve. This series allows us to have more interaction with characters who make things interesting. Dougie and Mooner are funny diversions who make Stephanie's life a little more entertaining. Stephanie and Joe are becoming a little annoying. Make a decision already...are you together or not? Stephanie's "perfect" sister moving home after her marriage ends with her "perfect" husband leaving her for the babysitter is an interesting twist. I laughed at the idea of her deciding that she was going to be a lesbian and pursuing that like it was her mission.

I realize this series is essentially the same book over and over, but there are so many times I laugh out loud at Evanovich's descriptions that I keep coming back for more! The characters are so wacky and entertaining.

Stephanie, Stephanie, Stephanie. The situation has really been ramping up for Stephanie and Morelli. I can completely envision the family pressure in planning for their wedding. But at the same time, the tension between Stephanie and Ranger is also boiling over. Now that I am so invested in the characters, I really enjoy sitting back and letting Stephanie bumble through each day. She makes me laugh, she makes me cringe, and I just cannot wait to see what she does next!

This book was just what I needed after reading a series of several depressing books in a row. What I really like about this particular series, is that they are an easy read, but the story is still intriguing. The characters actually seem real, even if their adventures seem a little crazy. I was glad that this book didn't repeatedly talk about how Stephanie love to eat donuts yet remained slim. That just got annoying in the other books.
