i have no idea how to rate this. it's beautifully written but unrelentingly sad. even the happy parts are sad. I didn't enjoy it, but DAMN. wasn't in the mood to sob. if you are, this is your book.

This book was amazing.  I’ve been seeing it on booktok for around a year now and I picked it up back in May but only started it a few days before I finished it.  I think it handled the topics of grief, mental health, trauma and family really well.  I loved Marin and her character development from the beginning and how she hated even the idea of going back home and towards the end where she doesn’t see going home as such a bad thing.  I also don’t see the found family trope talked about in this book much but I loved how she was able to reconnect and find such a strong, family like bond with Mabel and her family.  I also obviously loved the sapphic rep and I would recommend this book to anyone who relates to Marin, wants an emotional story, or wants to read a book that handles the topic of mental health and trauma amazingly.
