no such thing as middle book syndrome here.

this was so much more complex and politically driven than poppy war and i loved every second. all i felt is pain, and yes i cried, but i LOVED it

do yourself a favor and read this series
sad slow-paced

I really liked the first book in the series; unfortunately, I can’t say the same for this book. The book felt like it had no momentum and the character development seemed counterintuitive to their buildup in the first book. I stopped reading the series after forcing myself to finish this. Sad day

Could not put this down and read it in a day. I am wrecked after that ending.  I do not think Kuang can write a book that I will not devour (and be emotionally devastated by). I am terrified of how this trilogy will end
