I absolutely adored this one. An instant classic. Catriona Ward never misses!
Its a fast paced story that kept me guessing until the end. At some points I thought I had it figured out and then another twist would make me question.

Prepare to be spellbound by Catriona Ward's Little Eve! With two mysterious narrators, this mind-bending tale keeps you guessing until the very end. Ward weaves a web of family secrets, abuse, and detachment that will have you questioning what's real and what's not. The characters are so rich and three-dimensional that you'll feel like you know them personally. From the first page, you'll be hooked on this spine-tingling gothic thriller. Just be aware that it tackles some heavy themes of mistreatment and neglect. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an enthralling read that will leave an indelible mark on your soul.

This book was harrowing and so deftly written. I loved the twists and turns and only saw the end when the author wanted me to see it. A good trick that.
Little Eve is classic Catriona Ward. She writes very well and in a way that keeps you guessing until the very end. I really enjoyed this one, though I don’t think as much as Sundial. The characters were fascinating, the twists were great, and the creep factor was on point. The only thing I think was missing was a really satisfying demise of a really horrible character who shall remain unnamed. I wish they’d gotten their own but ah well. Still I very much recommend Little Eve.
Gothic literary tale set on an unforsaken isle in Scotland. Chapters alternate between characters and decades. Horrific subject matter with a lot of breadcrumbs to help you get to the end.
Thank you, @netgalley, @tornightfire for the eARC in return for an honest review.
My Thoughts:
This is my first read from Catriona Ward. I had high hopes for this book and it was not what I was expecting. It took perseverance to finish this book. I mean the premise was great but it just dragged. It finally got interesting after reading 70% already.
It had a great start. There’s two POVs but there are times I couldn’t tell who’s POV am I reading. It does open your eye about cults. How people specifically the children are victimized and manipulated.
The twist was uniquely impressive and how it all came together in the end. It is dark and depressing. It is also about finding hope and family. I do admire the main female character for her survival skills.

If you are not of the belief that Catriona Ward is the best horror/mystery writer of our time…then you are wrong.
I have now read all of her books and my 1 complaint with her writing is that she tends to add unnecessary storylines/goes on for too long with unimportant details.
This was not the case with Little Eve. Split between 2 POV’s, every storyline and scene builds towards a devastating conclusion. Catriona writes women in a way many can’t. They are all extremely layered, deeply flawed, and sympathetic. This is my favorite book of hers, and I think I could read 100 more gothic cult books by her.

My fav Catriona Ward to date - but I am a sucker for a gothic atmosphere and a cult.
