While I don’t think I loved this the way I loved Last House on Needless Street and Looking Glass Sound, I truly adore the way Ward writes. The characters, mood, setting are all just so vivid. Her books always transport me, and this was no exception. It’s more straightforward than most; there’s a twist but I feel like it’s fairly obvious?

The action starts right in beginning with murder, and kept me hooked until the end. Maybe more thriller than horror, but there are elements of both genres.
