So I have mixed feelings about this book. I’ve heard quite a lot about this series and considering it’s considered somewhat of a classic in the fantasy genre, so I was excited to give it a go.

The monster hunter concept sounded really cool but I was pretty disappointed to find that this book is just a series of fairytale retellings. While I have nothing against retellings (in fact I think they were quite well done in this book) it just wasn’t what I expected.

I wish I had known when going into this book that this was the concept, if I’d known that I think I would have enjoyed it more. However, it was disappointing when I expected something very different.

I did really like Geralt, and I think it would be cool to see him in a more original context and going on original adventures. I think there’s so much space for world building and character development that could really make an amazing fantasy story.

I definitely enjoyed listening to this book (I especially liked the narrator) and I’d definitely be interested in continuing sometime in the future.

My first fantasy book, and I loved it! I have played the witcher 3 video game, so reading the book just added to the whole experience. Overall a great read, will be reading the next one in the series!

Picked up the books seeing as I enjoyed the series so much. Took me a little while to actually get into this especially coming straight from the show, but actually found listening to it on audiobook 1000x better. Would definitley recommend for anyone who enjoyed the series/games and want to read the books!!!
