I was enthralled the whole time but then the last five minutes while thrilling were a let down. I can’t say much more because of spoilers but I can see the parallel to Dexter based on the ending.

Very exciting start to finish. Loved guessing what was going to happen.

The only thing that thrilled me in this book was the last sentence.

3.5 Stars! I found the first half of the story to be super compelling. However, as I began to guess the "twist" (which turned out to be correct) the intensity of my interest dwindled a bit. I still had a super fun time reading this, though! Would recommend if you're looking for a book that's a little bit twisted, but not too much.

β€œMy Lovely Wife” just wasn’t for me. I’m not including an overall rating for that reason. I’m pretty sure I’m an outlier based on other reviews I’ve seen.

This is described as β€œMr. & Mrs. Smith meets Dexter.” Kind of, but kind of not? The couple aren’t exactly vigilantes like Dexter. Great concept in theory though. Certainly one of the more unique plots in the thriller genre!

The entire book felt very slow to me. I never truly got into it. I considered stopping it a few times and revisiting it later, but I finished it just to get it done before my hold was up. It’s written entirely from the husband’s POV. I may have been more interested if there were alternating POVs from both the husband and wife’s perspectives. There were so many plot holes surrounding the investigation and DNA evidence that I was left scratching my head a bit.

The twist is different than what I’ve read in other thrillers, but I still saw it coming from a mile away.

The narrator was good. I would enjoy him in other audiobook scenarios. You’re not missing anything if you read this one instead of listening to the audiobook.

there are plot holes in the story but we're going to ignore them - just like how the government ignores potholes on the streets.
