I had so much fun with this. The banter between Lark and Lachlan was just so good. This book was witty and I laughed out loud a lot. Their relationship was sweet and the tension!!!!! Also the b-plot was pretty interesting and I liked that it gave the two of them things to do together. I found some of the
Abe chapters
a little cringe lol but overall the rest of the book made up for those moments.

ALSO ERIC NOLAN. I chose to listen to this bc dual narration and bc of him and it did not disappoint. Definitely doing this as audio pushed my rating up

This book was everything I needed that was missing in book one!
This by far was way better than I anticipated.

It had ick, it had love, spice, banter.
Lachlan Kane is top tier.
How can one book have the gross and explicit and still be so sexy!

Liked this better than B&B. Really liked the characters and thought they were a lot of fun together. I wish there was more suspense.

I didn't like this as much as the first book. I didn't find it funny tbh (the first book had me laughing out loud). But I do love me a marriage of convenience trope. I also didn't find it as spicy as the first book. I do like a slow burn, but I think maybe because the overall plot in this didn't keep my attention as much I was a little bored? The epilogue being one of the few smutty scenes we get just felt a little too late, also imo the switch was a little out of left field but to each their own.

"I'm not your demure little duchess. I'm your fucking whore, understand?"

The banter, the tension between Lachlan and Lark, I adored this book!

Not as gruesomely graphic as B&BB, but equally as entertaining.

Prefacing this with the fact that I listened to all three Kane brothers’ books following the tandem chart—which puts the events in chronological order across the series—and I’m so glad I did. It made the whole thing feel like one seamless, addictive story. Highly recommend. (Swipe left for the chart I used!)

I saw a video someone made of Lachlan and instantly pegged him as my book husband (yes… husband, not boyfriend). I was nervous I’d end up hating him, but thankfully his first appearance in book one told me everything I needed to know—I was going to adore him.

Following the tandem chart, this is the last book you start but the second one you finish, so I was itching to get to his sections.

Lachlan’s character? Absolutely hilarious. Grumpy and annoyed but also incredibly sweet. And if you do the audiobook—oh my. The growling. I was living for it. I may or may not relisten to certain scenes just to hear more. And him calling her Duchess constantly? Yes, please.

As for Lark… I didn’t connect with her at first. But as the story progressed and her quirky, spicy personality came through, I grew to love her. She’s officially one of my top FMCs in the series. (And yes, she’s a multiple deleter—use the proper term!)

Also, Auntie Ethel deserves her own spin-off. Just saying.

Audiobook narration by Eric Nolan and Samantha Brentmoor was perfection. Eric’s low, rough growl for Lachlan had me swooning. The spicy scene? Holy moly the chemistry the narrators brought. And that bonus chapter? I needed a fan. Don’t skip it.
