Quite cute, Irish small town booklover vibes. Predictable plot though no surprises and simple character flaws, no depth to any of the characters

I listened to the audiobook (which is always nice when there are sexy accents to hear) and it was such a lovely story. There is the Irish small town setting, a quaint bookshop, meeting and working for your favorite author, a grump of an owner, and so much more! This one had a lot of emotions and while there were sad moments, they were poignant and brought a weight to the meaning and the feelings that were being experienced. I loved the idea of helping your favorite author while falling in love in such a magical setting and with such a cast of characters. Definitely enjoyed this one and want to check out the rest of the series!

I really enjoyed this read! I felt like the characters were relatable and it had a good balance of drama, sweet romance, and a plot that stayed interesting .

Emily Allen is the daughter of a controlling narcissist mother and a doctor father married to someone she went to high school with. She’s lives in Martha’s Vineyard and worked as a librarian for most of her adult life thus far. She gets the opportunity to be the assistant to her favourite author who is trying to write the last book in a series after a 10 year cliffhanger hiatus. She travels to Ireland and fields her mother’s increasingly hysterical calls while trying to navigate life in a completely different country. The son of the author owns the bookshop she also works at part-time and he immediately tries to convince her to leave. His mother has had two run ins with breast cancer and he doesn’t want her to be crushed under the weight of trying to write this last book. Anyway. They fight. They get together. There’s a cute dog. There’s a 3rd act disagreement. But there’s also very sweet side characters and a colourful cute village. I enjoyed how realistically awful her mother was and how much she related to Siobhan as a result.
