When I started this book I wasn't so sure about it.
The translation is seriously one of the worst I have ever experienced. This book needed better editors for sure. Sentences would be structured like: "He needed the thing, and the thing was needed because needed was the thing." and I was just sitting there like............. how did that get through. 90% less words would have sufficed... I understand translating from a language such as Chinese is hard work.... but really?
Also, I could accept the rough translation while I was reading the fan translation... but then I realized there was an official English translation and.... It was not much better. The official English version also changes characters names which I did not like (Do Sei becomes Doussey, etc.), but I did decide to stick with it because it was slightly improved..... and it at least... kinda... separated the thoughts into paragraphs better.... with less run on sentences. They were still present though.
But yea............ I almost dropped this book several times because of how badly it was edited. I am so glad I stuck through though, because in the end, it was a charming, albeit depressing, story. There were times where I had no idea why certain things happened because of how badly it was edited

I am definitely excited to read the second half.

Really curious how humanity is going to be saved because... there is already nothing left.I feel so sorry for the original author due to the state of this books official English version.

This made me cry. Wonderfully hopeful in the face of a bleak and dark existence, and wonderfully complex humanity.
