Its’s been a decade since I’ve read such a compelling story. The main character is adorable and cute - and half mushroom. He processes emotions differently than humans, which means that when humans kill one another in front of him he doesn’t panic of get upset. It means that as a reader I feel strongly for the characters but can also process the larger questions the book is asking.
