I've read this book at least a dozen times. It was the book that made me want to be writer! It was also the book that guaranteed I would be a feminist for life. =) If you know any girls aged 8-12, make sure this book is on their bookshelf!

Fun story, I like how headstrong Alanna is, she is a great strong character and I will buy it for my niece when she gets a little older. A good palate cleanser to get out of a reading funk.
This is a great fantasy book no matter what age you are. I would have given it 5 stars but it started out a bit slow for me. After the first third of the book I flew through the rest of it. My favorite characters are Alanna the protagonist and George the King of Thieves. The attention to detail in the story is fantastic. If you enjoy stories with an interesting and powerful female protagonist then I highly recommend this book! I can’t wait to start the next book in the series.

It was very good and I really enjoyed it! Lol.
It was interesting to read and see how, though we were mostly in Alanna's head, we did get "glimpses" into the other characters head. Very interesting. I need the next one! But I'm not sure when I'm gonna get my hands on it..lol.
