I liked this one! It's an #ownvoices novel about a character with mental illnesses, and I found it both entertaining and illuminating to read about Norah's struggles and accomplishments. I would highly recommend it.

(TRIGGER WARNING for the book: Self-harm. Please be aware of that if you decide to read it.)

Must read. Vivid description of a “day in the life” of mental illness. Thank you for giving Norah (and yourself, and the rest of us) voice.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Although some things with Norah's anxiety hits too close to home. Although hers is so much more severe than my own. Still, it opened up a link of empathy toward her. THis book gives others a good opportunity to see what someone who sufers from anxiety might be going through. The process, the emotions, the anger and hurt towards oneself. If you know anyone who does suffer from anxiety or a mental disorder, I highly recommend this for some possible insight. While no two cases are exactly alike (as even the author states) it might give you ideas.

Aside from that, it is a fairly well written story done in an engaging manner. I LOVED Luke's character! One of the sweetest guys I've seen as a character in awhile.

This book went from almost a 4.5 stars to a 3 star book simply because of the ending. I was really enjoying the majority of the book and exploring the mind of Norah. But the ending was unnecessary - like I understand why ghe author did it but it was a cheap shot and something that wont happen to alot of people.

I really enjoyed this book and it hit really close to home for me. It did a great job of accurately portraying what goes through the mind of someone with anxiety and OCD, or at least my experience with it.

Astonishing

I'm astonished how I read this book in around four hours straight, I started around 6am. Much to early for anything but I couldn't sleep. I was not expecting to fall in love with this book so quickly, it was insane!

A book of this kind -so fresh and exciting, different but cool- was a first for me. I'd use the same words to describe Norah.

I will not hesitate in reading more of Louise Gornall's books, I liked her laid-back writing style. This book was quite possibly just what I needed to read, it couldn't have come at a better time.

Everything was just perfect - I loved Nora's cute awkwardness, her determination in the face of her paralysing fear -agoraphobia, and her first encounter with Luke was hilarious. This is a book that explores agoraphobia but in a comfortable and highly entertaining way. A must read, definitely!

Content Warning: Self Harm

I really came to love Norah. Especially the fact that this story is #OwnVoices, I felt I could trust that Norah was accurately representing her conditions (though I know not everyone experiences the same thing.) There are really only three major characters in this book: Norah, Norah’s mother, and Luke. An additional character we get to know is Norah’s therapist. Even though there was such a small number of characters in this book, it was still so captivating. Each of the characters were very distinct and original, they each brought something valuable to the story. I felt with Norah on all of her highs and lows and wished the best for her the whole time.

The synopsis of the book doesn’t really discuss self harm at all, but it is something that pops up in the book and could potentially be triggering to some readers.

All in all, I really loved this story and the writing.

If you're familiar with mental illness and feel like you need a friend who would understand then Norah is your girl. Norah is a young girl who feels trapped in her own mind and home because of her mental limitations. Louise Gornall captures everything and anything I've ever felt as a fellow mental illness sufferer in this glorious depiction of YA literature. She, the author, gave me everything I could want in a book that was going to depict something so close to home for me, all while hitting those YA aspects of romance and drama to keep you drawn in from the first chapter. If learning about Mental Health is of interest or you suffer or know someone that does, this book really is.. a choice read. Please read it. Please tell Louise Gornall you love it. Spread this book around.

Well done, but at times difficult to read. I had to skim and take breaks. Signs she did a good job conveying and making the reader understand and almost experience how the brain works with type of illness. Not sure if teens will stick with and enjoy. I liked it for the empathy it creates too.

“ We can assume the best, but we can't choose how people perceive us. We can, however, choose how those views affect us.”

Trigger Warnings: Agoraphobia, Self-Harm, Anxiety and OCD

This was such a special book. It was very realistic and a really raw story. Definitely recommend checking this book out!
