About the Book: Killers of every ilk are no mystery. One way or another everything boils down to human brutality, greed, and other vices. It’s the victims that cause questions and wonder. Why those four, so brutally murdered and left behind? Why that one, with an unborn skeleton entangled in her own?

My Opinion: This was greatly lacking. Lacking in flavor, adult behavior, communication. Premise was great, murders in the name of science, cult-like vibe, that constant danger Brennan seems to always be in. And yet it felt like going through the motions. Here’s the plan, here’s the setting, do the mandatory thing until something or someone saves the day and Brennan can put culprit behind bars.

I have to admit it took me a minute to get into this one. I enjoyed the new setting and the new and awful way of dealing with local law enforcement. I felt a little as though there was too much going on with so many different cases it seemed slightly contrived and confusing. I mean those are some crazy coincidences, even for Brennan. I think I would have liked to read more about the mass grave and bringing down the people who killed the villagers and the last minute segue from serial killer to political assassin, stalker and stem cells seemed, I don't know lacking in some way. I enjoyed it don't get me wrong but it wasn't my favorite.

2.5 stats. Was little bummed by this book, it wasn't terrible but I didn't feel it hold up with the other books. Will continue never the less

This was a good listen. The plot was suspenseful and took many turns. It was really interesting.

Not bad by any means, but I think this was my least favorite of the first 5 books. I had a hard time getting invested in the story for some reason, but maybe it was just a sadder premise than the other books and my brain didn’t want to get too into it. Looking forward to continuing the series though!

Got this from a "Blind Date with a Book". Made myself finish it. Reams of single-line back-and-forth sassy banter dialogue made the pages move quickly, and I stopped caring that it was a pain to keep track of who was saying what.

The one good part of interacting with this book is being inadvertently reminded of my love for "Bones" the TV show. I've never before in my life said "The show (or movie) is better than the book".
The show is better than the book.

Will I wrap this book back up, and slap the same blind date label on it, and pass it off to some other unsuspecting person via a little free library? Absolutely.

Am I so irritated at this book that it's making me write my first Goodreads review? Apparently.

I like this series but this is not the best in the series - Plot is a hit of a mess, and not compellingly told.
