The pictures are adorable and everything is super easy to follow. A lot of these stitches I've seen on tiktok but this has all of them and is a great reference guide. Some of these stitches I might even do just for decorative purposes.

This is as cheesy as you think it is, but also quite useful in all the situations for which I needed it. I learned to sew when I was young, but strangely I was not taught how to mend, and I wear my work clothes hard and hate to get new ones just to undergo the same treatment. This is a brief and totally practical guide to a bunch of basic mending techniques, infused with the ethos of mending as not just an action but as an attitude towards living. I'm not sure I believe that "There's nothing broken that can't be fixed." But: "Perhaps many of us fear failure, believing that we will make the problem worse, turning a small hole into an even bigger one. But even if we do, the bigger hole can still be mended."

Contains both practical tutorials on how to mend all kinds of clothes & textiles as well as short meditations that inspire you to think deeply about the objects you own and interact with and should care for rather than discard & replace.

Delightful primer on how and why to mend.  Includes strategies for sashiko stitching and so much lighthearted art.  Some of the sewing tips I was familiar with, having sewed for years, but it was clear enough and well illustrated enough to provide a good lesson for an absolute beginner.  I still found some interesting suggestions and the anecdotes and art charmed me.

I am a new sewer (on machine for about 6 months and just starting hand sewing for mending clothes) and I really wanted this book to be helpful for me but it was more confusing and overwhelming. First off, the photos were not clear for me and I’m a visual leaner. I wish it hadn’t been animated style but real photos. The digital ADR version from Net Galley has hard to understand images, blurry black backgrounds on photos, and left me frustrated when trying to understand. The written content was good but I did not feel like the book was right for what I was hoping for. It may be good and helpful for someone who has a advanced understanding is sewing, but not for someone like me.

It’s silly that a book about mending clothes can give me all the warm fuzzies but this book definitely did.
