I have read Anne Lamott before, and I loved her work. My favorite thing about her writing is how strong her authorial voice is, how genuine and honest she is. Help Thanks Wow was no different.

It’s a quick read, and one full of insight into the mystical act of prayer. It discusses the mystery of it, but also the quotidian earthliness of it. The visage of God and our pathway to it is explored from many perspectives, and then distilled into three humble prayers: help, thanks, and wow.

I enjoyed the journey with her through these three prayers, each examined in turn. It made me feel like prayer was accessible, with its churchly trappings stripped away by Lamott and her refreshingly human approach.

I recommend this book to anyone who is going through a hard or stressful time, as it reads like your best friend sitting next to you and giving you encouragement. It would also be a great fit for anyone who just wants a different perspective on prayer. Another great work by Lamott. I am eager to find another title!

A owerful little book. Especially if you've not read Ann's other books. She keeps it real and teaches us that we are all human and we are all loved.

I really enjoyed this book but it only touched on the three essential prayers. I wish she would have written more.

What an amazing gift written in faith. This is my kind of religion- taking pause to believe that something is bigger than us without having to be assigned to a particular god or religion. This was beautiful and I found myself nodding throughout. I will read this again and again.

I’m new to reading Lamott’s work and I just felt like her talent for “playing” with words was stunning. This sounds like I’m making light of her talent but I’m truly in awe.

I love Anne Lamott...I think she's honest and raw and real and quirky...and I "get" her...She puts words to my thoughts and validates what I feel.

Short Review: I originally did not pick this up because it was so short. I found it on sale and picked up the audiobook. It is ridiculously short, and way over-priced.

But at the sale price I found it, it was good and worth reading. Lamott is a good author, comes at religious themes from a different viewpoint and is down to earth. Still unless you find it very cheap I am opposed to it on principle. It was less than 2 hours on audiobook. No way you should pay full price for that.

"Once you breathe in gratitude and breathe out gratitude, you can bear the unbearable." This book holds such simplicity and depth side by side.
