Yall need to jump on the JTG train because she knows how to write these books. This story had me in sloth mode all day. I couldn't do anything else until I finished it. It will have you hooked from the very beginning. Im not giving away any spoilers. Yall just go read this. Okay ill do some quotes.

"I wonder if his heart is full of ghosts too."

"I love you, sweet pea. I’ll love you till the end of time."

“"How can you remember someone you’ve never met?"

“One lifetime wasn’t enough to love you.”

J.T does it again!! Amazing story!!

Audiobook Review:

I bought this on sale without reading the blurb. I saw that it had good reviews and I loved this author’s Queens and Monsters series so I decided to just start listening- and I loved it! This was so different than what I was expecting!

Megan is a widow who bought a dilapidated b&b in a new town to fulfill her and her late husband’s dream. When she gets to town, though, the town’s best contractor seems to not be able to stand her. He also turns out to be mute after an accident he had years before.

Megan is sarcastic, self-deprecating and hilarious. I absolutely love her sense of humor. The banter in this book just made my day.

This turned out to be magical. Things start happening to force Megan and Theo together and it makes you question who Theo is.

I will always love a duet audiobook and this is no exception. I would consider this a slow burn with a couple spicy scenes.

”People say time heals all wounds, but that’s a lie. Grief is a chronic disease. The pain just keeps on coming.”

“I love you, sweet pea. I’ll love you till the end of time.”

Synopsis:
Megan has just moved to Seaside hoping to leave her heartbreak behind and get a fresh start with her recent purchase of the Buttercup Inn. But, the Buttercup Inn is in desperate need of repair and unfortunately “Moody Raincoat Guy” (Theo) happens to be the best contractor in town.

Theo is trying to deal with life after his accident, but the girl who just purchased the Buttercup Inn is familiar to him and he is afraid to face the reason why. As things come to light, the line between coincidence and reality becomes very blurred for both.

- At what point does a string of coincidences gather significance and add up to something more than chance?”

- “How can you remember someone you’ve never met?’

Overview:
- Trigger warning: loss of spouse (in the past, off page), miscarriage (past, off page)
- Setting: Seaside, Oregon
- POV: h POV. (Epilogue is the only thing from Hero POV)
- Tropes: Love after loss, paranormal (reincarnation)

- Who is the Hero? Theo (around 30). He’s a contractor and his life hasn't been the same since he was hit by a drunk driver 5 years ago. Since the accident he hasn’t spoken a word.
* The following words/phrases were used to describe Hero: trustworthy, reliable, odd, mysterious, grouchy, weird, lonely

- Who is the Heroine? Megan (32). Her husband was killed by a drunk driver five years ago.
* The following words/phrases were used to describe Heroine: big personality, doesn’t cower, firecracker, intelligent, stubborn, stoic, confused

- h virgin? No
- First time they kiss: 69%
- First time they sleep together: 70%
- steamy? it’s a slow burn to the bedroom, so not much steam for the first 70%. After that there are a few descriptive bedroom scenes
- OW/OM drama? A little. Megan went on a date with a guy but she wasn’t dating or even involved with Theo at the time
- H/h cheat? No
- Time apart? Well.....technically I guess you could say 5 years. But, after they are together they are “apart” a month or so for a few hospitalizations
- Did I skip pages? No
- Big secrets/twists? the puzzle pieces start to come together around 64% at 87% H’s reason for no talking is shared with reader
- Did I cry? I was awfully close. If the author would have followed through with her original plan I would have been a puddle on the floor (see author acknowledgement). Very thankful she didn’t do that to Theo
- Did I laugh? Oh yes. I snort laughed quite a bit. Megan is very snarky and had a ton of great comeback lines.
- Did I swoon? Not much. Theo did a few sweet things later on but because the book wasn’t from his POV his character didn’t really shine through.
- Cliffhanger? No
- HEA? Yes
- Epilogue? 2 months later
- Recommend? yes. I enjoyed the book.

- ”I’ll love this woman forever. Whatever happens, she’s the true north my soul will always point to. I’ll love her in every one of my lives.”

- “One lifetime wasn’t enough to love you.”

The following are my thoughts about this book:
- ”So do you believe in reincarnation?”. This foreshadowing set the stage for the story. It just made me feel really bad for the “real” Theo. A soul lost, but a physical body still in existence

- Their initial email conversations had me cracking up

- There are a ton of great quotes. Megan is super snarky and I absolutely loved her!!
- ”Do they not allow sarcasm in this town? Because if that’s the case, I might as well scrap the whole project and move somewhere where people can appreciate my biting sense of humor and deep love of snark.”

- “It’s finally happened! I’ve lost my mind! Might as well go adopt a few dozen cats and start wearing my underwear over my clothes!”

- “Being around you is like being lit on fire and thrown out of a plane and surviving the hard fall to earth, only to realize I’ve landed in a village of cannibals. And it’s dinnertime!”

- “I’m sorry, my brain is going on vacation now. You’ll have to talk to my napkin instead.”

- I really needed Theo's POV

Quotes
“I’m also well aware of his sunny disposition. The man could frighten Frankenstein.

“I’m sure he gets an expression like he just took a dump in his pants every time he sees me because he’s so attracted to me.”

“I wonder at what age it becomes socially acceptable to say whatever you’re really thinking and do whatever you want, regardless of what’s polite. Seventy? Eighty? God, I can’t wait.”

“The market for commercial real estate in Portland is tighter than the Pope’s asshole.”

“I hazard a glance around, and sure enough, almost everyone is looking at us. Some more obviously than others. So of course I have to smile widely and wave. Eyeballs scatter like marbles.”

“Sunshine, my brain is so big, it’s almost the size of your bad attitude.”

“I look like a prehistoric cave woman who spent a long night losing a battle with a woolly mammoth.”

Before here, I never lived anywhere but Phoenix.” Coop thoughtfully rubs his beard. “Been to Phoenix once. Hot as hell and dry as a nun’s cooch.”

“Don’t let life rob you of hope just because it’s kicked you in the balls a few times.”

“Of course I asked him. And he did his usual impression of a slab of granite and refused to answer.”

“Love isn’t born of the flesh. It’s born of the spirit, and so can transcend the bonds of flesh, and life, and time. The poet Rumi said, ‘Don’t grieve.”

Another great book of hers…

Great but definitely has parallels to Pen Pal. Theo’s character I mean. I wish we could have heard their talk about everything after he got out of the hospital though. And did they get married? I like a little more closure.
