I don't know how to judge the preselected choices but this book is good. Absolutely love Theo. Touches on things I don't necessarily believe but did a great job telling it

What a whirlwind.

I did enjoy this… however I have some issues I will address here.

I was expecting this to be a similar story as Archer’s Voice— young, beautiful and traumatised woman moves to a small town and falls in love with the super hot mute traumatised man next door.

This was basically the story but with ups and downs of chance, mental illness?, and wacky theatrical writing that felt like 2013.

Basically Megan is widowed by her life long love, Cass who wanted to buy this Oregon B&B. She finally moves there after his death to renovate and meets Theo—the tortured bad “good” man of the town.

He instantly avoids her which we learn is because of his so called schizophrenia where he’s imagined her life through memories’ of Cass’ perspective. So basically this is a story about reincarnation.

Now I’m not opposed to reincarnation but what was all that character development for if you just throw it away and blame the love of her dead husband? Does she even love Theo or he is just a vessel for Cass?!

I just felt a little betrayed by the end since their tension was lovely: BECAUSE THEY CAN BOTH OVERCOME THEIR PAST AND HEAL TOGETHER…. Spoiler they don’t!

They truly believe he was reincarnated into Theo’s body which honestly makes me feel bad for Theo, poor dude lost his personality. Anyway I like books about healing but this one lost me on language and plot.

I read it in a day so I’ll give it 3 stars and it’s really not too bad as a whole but like why would you write that ending when there were many more possibilities?

Should have just enjoyed the ride. It’s really not that deep. Torturous and obvious. I love this author so much so no hard feelings but damn this one wasn’t it. The disrespect toward Theo killed this whole vibe. (not to mention she planned to kill him in the end??? gtfo!!)

This was going to be a 5 ⭐️ read, but a couple of things stopped me.

1) The ending seemed a bit rushed and the resolution felt a bit hollow. Because the book was going so well in the first 3/4, I would think that the wrapup would have felt satisfying.

2) I wish there was more to the relationship of Megan and Theo in the present day. I just felt like their relationship stood on Megan’s relationship with Cal and we didn’t get to see a development of her new relationship.

I really enjoyed the supernatural/psychological mystery of this story, but the reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I feel like there was this big build up, a climax, and then it was kind of just an after thought. I wish that part had a better conclusion. Other than that I loved Theo and Megan and their journey together. There were some twists I did not see coming, others I did but overall a really good read.

If you love angst, this one is for you. I loved the concept but think some parts of the plot could have been flushed out more. Overall, great read.

One of the best books I’ve ever read
