I gave this book a long review as I feel any good or relatively good book deserves feedback of negatives and positives, but ultimately why the reader considers it an enjoyable read.
Then I fell asleep mid type.

I just finished this book and... this is truely an enemies to lovers that deserves so much more attention. I laughed, cried, fell in love and felt hate. Almost every page is annotated, the use of words was absolutely beautiful.
this book is my new favourite book and I would recommend it to everybody, this is a must read in my opinion.

This was an interesting read with a lot of really cool world building, but it definitely had some slow moments that were hard to push through. I loved that it was a mix of fantastical world and Muslim/Arab culture - I don't think we really get enough of that in the bookish community. I thought the characters were compelling enough but would have liked to see a stronger role for Zafira, our female lead character. She starts out as this badass huntress disguising herself as a man to be able to move through the world, but it's quickly dropped - which would have been fine if she didn't also so quickly develop a romantic interest in our male lead character...I could have done without the romantic aspect and would have just loved for her to be powerful and independent without Nasir.
There's a lot going on despite being slowly paced at the outset and I sometimes found the story a little difficult to follow. A lot of characters get introduced as the pace picks up and it was sometimes difficult for me to figure out who was who and what their relationship was to our main characters. Maybe this is my fault for listening to the audiobook rather than reading the print book but I just didn't feel like I always knew who was in the party.
Overall an interesting read if you love fantasy and want something diverse, but not my all time favorite fantasy novel.

I really wanted to love the book but I stuggled to finish it. It was just boring at times. I like all the characters and the plot but something about it just didn’t land for me. Idk but I do wanna finish the duo-logy eventually

I loved this so much. Not only was the writing gorgeous, the plot and characters were captivating and the scenery made me believe that I wasn’t reading. This is one of those books where you genuinely feel at home in the world and you feel as if it is a part of you by the end.
Zafira the Huntress is chosen to go on a quest to find an artifact that will restore magic to Arawiya. Unfortunately, Nasir, a murderous prince, was also sent on this mission to kill the Hunter and retrieve the artifact. Filled with magic, shadows, and secrets, this book was captivating from start to finish.
I’m so happy Sophia forced me to read this. The characters felt like family and the world inspired by ancient Arabia was such a wonderful place to visit, what with the culture, food, and language I was surrounded by throughout the book. I would recommend this to anyone who loves fantasy, quests, magic, enemies to lovers, and prophecies.
